Best Routes to Cycle in Mallorca

There’s a reason Mallorca is a cycling mecca — from winding mountain climbs to breezy coastal roads, the island is packed with unforgettable rides. Whether you're chasing epic views, testing your legs on iconic ascents, or just cruising through quiet villages, these are the routes that truly capture the magic of riding here.

Sa Calobra & Coll de Femenia

This is Mallorca’s version of the Pacific Coast Highway — a long, flowing ride along the island’s wild northwest coast. You’ll pass through cliffside villages, pine forests, and hidden beaches on one of the most scenic roads in Europe: the MA-10.

Start from Andratx and finish in Sóller or continue to Palma.

  • Total Distance: ~105–115 km

  • Elevation Gain: ~2,100 m

  • Multiple shorter climbs with stunning views and fast descents
This one’s about endurance and soaking up the landscape, not just watts.

Do this route in spring or early fall for clear skies and calm winds. Bring layers — the weather can shift in the mountains. Refuel in Banyalbufar or Estellencs, and if you finish in Sóller, treat yourself to a cold drink and a tram ride back into town.

Sóller – Deià – Valldemossa

A picturesque loop through the heart of the Tramuntana mountains, blending sea views, terraced villages, and flowing climbs. This route is less intense than Sa Calobra but just as rewarding, especially for riders who enjoy a scenic, soulful ride.

Start from Palma or Bunyola.

  • Total Distance: ~80–90 km

  • Elevation Gain: ~1,400 m

  • Main Climbs: Coll de Sóller (5 km, ~5%), road to Valldemossa
It’s a ride with rolling hills rather than brutal climbs — ideal for a steady-paced day.

Do this ride in the morning to catch the light over the coast. Weekdays are quieter on the roads. Stop in Deià for a quick bite or coffee with a view, and don’t miss the descent from Valldemossa — it’s one of the most beautiful stretches on the island.

Having Doubts?

We are here to support you, take a look to our Frequently asked questions. If you have any other questions about the Palma Coliving experience in Mallorca, we can talk about it during the application process.

What’s the minimum stay?

The minimum stay is 30 nights.

Each villa has a secure garage or dedicated bike storage space, so your gear is safe and ready when you are

  • I don’t see a dedicated storage space, so is there a plan to create one?
  • Otherwise cyclists will keep their road bikes in their rooms.
  • Need to mention that the cyclists should have insurance on their bikes and also medical/accidental insurance.

We’ll connect you with the right people. There are social rides on all levels — from relaxed beach loops to hardcore climbs. We’ll guide you to the most stable, welcoming groups that fit your vibe

  • Need to list the levels of road cycling - beginner, intermediate, advanced etc.
  • Will there be a schedule on what day the road cycling will happen and what routes will be done?

Our community is best suited for riders with some cycling experience. We don’t offer beginner lessons or guided training — so you'll need to bring your own equipment and feel comfortable riding independently. What we do provide is a cycling-friendly coliving space, local tips, and a community of passionate riders to connect with.

It’s more about mindset than age. Most of our colivers are between 30–47, with the average age being 33. If you’re open-minded, community-driven, and curious about lifestyle change — you’ll fit in just fine.

No — all rooms are private for your comfort and peace of mind. You’ll share the living space, kitchen, and beautiful outdoor areas with the community, but you always have your own room to recharge.

This is not a hotel — it’s a coliving experience. We live together, ride together, and connect over family dinners, shared stories, and mountain climbs. If you’re looking for connection, lifestyle, and inspiration — you’ve found your people.

Most airlines flying to Palma de Mallorca offer bike transport as special luggage. You’ll need a bike travel case or box, and it’s smart to deflate your tires and remove pedals before flying. Alternatively, you can rent a high-quality road bike from local shops on the island.

You can also arrive by ferry from cities like Barcelona, Valencia, or Dénia, which makes it easier to travel with your own bike without the hassle of flying.

We recommend travel insurance that includes coverage for cycling-related activities, accidents, and theft. If your current policy doesn’t cover that, you can check Spanish-based options like ARAG, Intermundial, or PedalSure (EU-based, cycling-specific). Some insurers also offer add-ons for high-value gear like carbon frames, GPS computers, or e-bikes.

Please note: Palma Coliving is not responsible for any lost or stolen items — whether inside or outside the house. We strongly advise locking your bike at all times, even when stored indoors.

Mallorca has a Mediterranean climate: hot summers, mild winters, and plenty of sunshine.

  • Spring (Mar–May): 15–25°C, ideal for cycling.

  • Summer (Jun–Aug): 25–35°C, hot — ride early!

  • Autumn (Sep–Nov): 18–28°C, cooler and calm.

  • Winter (Dec–Feb): 10–18°C, fewer riders but still very rideable.

Bring your road bike (or rent one here), helmet, lights, spare tubes, and a multi-tool. GPS or phone mount with Komoot or Strava is highly recommended. Lightweight kit, sunscreen, and sunglasses are a must — and don’t forget your refillable bottles for those long rides.

Our Palma coliving is fully bike-friendly. We have space to store your bike safely, and you can easily roll it in and out of the building. Both of our coliving spaces include a garage with an independent entrance, making access smooth and hassle-free. The location is great — just minutes from coastal roads, scenic climbs, and top cycling cafés.

Yes — Mallorca is one of the safest and most cyclist-friendly destinations in Europe. Drivers are used to sharing the road with riders, especially in the Tramuntana region. That said, always wear a helmet and ride with lights or reflective gear if you're out early or late.

Mallorca’s roads are smooth, well-maintained, and designed for riders. You'll find quiet country lanes, scenic mountain passes, and coastal routes with minimal traffic — especially outside of high summer season. Some roads can get narrow, so ride single-file when needed.

Some top picks:

  • Sa Calobra (iconic hairpin climb)

  • Coll de Sóller (gentle, scenic ascent)

  • MA-10 Coastal Road (from Andratx to Sóller)

  • Randa Monastery Climb (peaceful and panoramic)

March to May and September to November are ideal — warm but not too hot, with fewer tourists on the road. Winter (Dec–Feb) is quieter but still pleasant. July and August are very hot and crowded — best avoided unless you ride early mornings.
