What does it really mean to design a life you love? For Paula Monzón — a Spanish creative who left the corporate grind in Australia to build a freedom-first agency — the answer came through small steps, big mindset shifts, and finding community along the way. In this story, we explore how she built her business, why she chose coliving, and what it means to thrive as a digital nomad in 2025.

From Australia to Mallorca, Paula Monzón shares how she left the corporate world behind to build a freedom-first agency — and how coliving helped her reconnect with her purpose.

Redefining Success: A New Kind of Career Story

When most people hear “graphic designer,” they think of visuals, logos, and colors. But for Paula Monzón, design means much more — it’s about creating impact, emotional connection, and helping businesses stand out in a noisy digital world.

Originally from Zaragoza, Spain, Paula spent nearly a decade living in Australia. There, she built a career in design and marketing, eventually launching her own creative agency: 10MILE Studio. She worked with brands across the country, helping them thrive online through branding, digital strategy, and meaningful communication.

But behind the polished client work and growing portfolio, Paula was building something even bigger — a lifestyle based on freedom, not expectations.

The Turning Point: Why She Left the Corporate World

Like many creative entrepreneurs, Paula didn’t make the leap all at once. Before founding her agency, she worked for several companies — but deep down, she knew the traditional 9–5 life wasn’t the right fit.

“The corporate path didn’t feel aligned with who I was. I always had this desire to create something of my own.”

Then came the pandemic. While the world slowed down, Paula finally had the space to reflect. She began taking on freelance projects on the side. Her partner Rafa, a self-taught web developer, began doing the same. What started as an experiment slowly grew into a real business — a boutique agency built from scratch, offering creative services with a human touch.

“The idea wasn’t to escape work — it was to build a business that gave us the freedom to live the life we actually wanted.”

Building a Life, Not Just a Business

With her agency growing and a strong remote client base in Australia, Paula made another important decision: to move back to Spain and be closer to family and friends.

But instead of jumping into a new apartment and office routine, she chose something different — coliving.

That’s how she found herself at Palma Coliving in Mallorca — a space designed for remote workers, creatives, and entrepreneurs to connect, collaborate, and grow.

“I was looking for a place that offered more than just a desk. I wanted inspiration, community, and people who were also on this path.”

The experience gave her just that. From paddle matches to rooftop dinners and deep conversations with like-minded nomads, Paula felt recharged — personally and professionally.

The Mindset Behind the Move

Changing your life isn’t just about what you do — it’s about how you think.

One of the most powerful mindset shifts Paula had to make? Letting go of the traditional definition of success.

“We’re taught that success means a stable job, a house, checking boxes. But for me, success is about freedom, creativity, and feeling energized by the life I’m building.”

This clarity has shaped not only her lifestyle but also the way she runs her business. Her work at 10MILE Studio is all about building brands with heart — helping companies create strong digital identities that stand out and connect emotionally.

Advice for Other Digital Nomads & Creatives

When asked what she’d tell someone stuck in a job that no longer fits, Paula’s advice is simple but powerful:

“You don’t need to change everything overnight. But give yourself the space to reflect. Ask what you really want — and then start with small, consistent steps.”

She also reminds fellow digital nomads that change is rarely linear. Building a meaningful life — whether that’s through travel, entrepreneurship, or creative work — takes time and patience.

“I try to focus on getting 1% better every day. That’s where real growth happens — in the little moments.”
